Product Review and a Giveaway!

Awhile ago I was contacted by Frigidaire to see if I wanted to review a product.  I was thrilled, of course I wanted to.  So they sent me $30 to use at their site to buy what I wanted and review it.  First of all, did you know Frigidaire sells more than appliances?  They have cooking gadgets and tools, grilling supplies, and more!  I chose a Baking Stone and a set of vegetable Peelers.

I have used a Baking Stone in the past, but it didn't turn out the best.  I don't know if it was a bad stone, or my inexperience.  So this time I was careful to follow the directions!!  You have to be really careful that you don't expose the stone to extreme heat changes.  So you want to preheat your stone in the oven, as the oven preheats.  You can not get it wet until it is all the way cool.  And you don't use soap when cleaning it.  These are just a few of the rules to live by when using a baking stone.

I have made a couple different loaves of bread on the stone, as well as pizza.  All have turned out wonderful!  It cooks very evenly, and leaves the bottom crisp and perfect!  Plus look at this one, it is a rectangle!!  I love that.  It just seems so much more user friendly to me!

I even have made cookies on my stone!  You have to be careful with those though.  The stone retains its heat for a really long time.  So you don't want to over bake, and just rely on the timer!  I learned that lesson the hard way.  But once I knew what I was doing, the cookies turned out perfect!

Now all I need is a pizza peel, and I could be a professional :)

Ok...on to the vegetable peeler.  I LOVE this.  I have had a few peelers over the years, and they all worked fine, but they were nothing to write home about.  This one is amazing.  It is so easy to use.  Not that peeling is hard, but you hardly apply any pressure and it peels the skin without bruising the food.  It is so smooth too.  I usually hate peeling potatoes, but they were done in no time, and it was just so easy.  I was shocked.  I really didn't expect much out of this little guy, but boy did he surprise me!

So that leads me to the Giveaway!  I have for you this amazing peeler!  It is a set of 2.  One is the soft skin peeler, and the other is a Julienne Peeler.

So here are the rules!
1.  Leave a Comment.  Any comment will do.  Tell me what you bake on your stone, what you would peel with your peeler, how much you love me, anything will do!
2.  Like me on Facebook (leave a comment telling me you do)
3.  Follow me on Twitter (leave a comment telling me you do)
4.  Tweet this giveaway (leave a comment telling me you did)
5.  Share this giveaway on Facebook (leave a comment telling me you did)
6.  Follow me on GFC or email subscription (leave a comment telling me you do)

So that is SIX chances to win!

Make sure I have an accurate email address to contact you.  You can enter until Sunday Sept 11.  I will announce a winner on Monday the 12th.

*This giveaway is open to U.S. shipping residents only

**The products for this review were provided by Frigidaire.  The opinions in the post are entirely my own.  The giveaway is sponsored by me.

I've never seen a pizza stone like this in my life. It's really stone? Mine's a tan color. It's well-blackened now, but it was originally tan. I make pizza on mine, of course. :)

@The Mom Chef - yes it is stone. It is a super light grey, almost white color. It is super heavy, and a really nice stone. I too had only seen tan ones before!

Great swag! I've never cooked with a baking stone before but I'm always intrigued when I read about people using theirs. We're pretty much pizza addicts so I'm sure we'd rock alot of those. As for a peeler, girl you don't know how much I would use that! Evil carrots and potatoes beware!

I had a pizza stone that we just loved. The movers dropped it and broke it and I've never replaced it. I know one of Alton Brown's shows he uses some sort of heat resistant stepping stone or maybe it was terra cotta (I can't remember) for one. I might have to check into that. :)

Don't count me in for the give away as I live in Australia, but I really liked your review. I have a pizza stone myself (I bought it quite recently) and LOVE it! It is the best and easiest way to make pizza, bread... at home in your own oven! :-)

I don't have a pizza stone, I have a cast iron pizza pan! It also get super hot, and makes excellent pizza. I wouldn't bake cookies on it, it would just get too hot.

I use my stone for baking different kinds of 'rings' like Lemon Chicken Ring, Christmas Wreath Ring, etc. Also toast baguettes for whatever recipe I'm doing that calls for little toasts. I would be lost without my Stones (Have two of them - one round & one rectangle).. I just discovered you on The Pioneer Womans' website today with the yummy 'homemade goldfish crackers'. Can't wait to make those with my Granddaughter.
I liked you on Facebook too!!!!

I love using stones for pizza, cookies, bread, crackers.. they are so useful. I'll have to look at the rectangle one, that would be much more useful than the circles I have!

I would love to have those peelers! Just now making Pear Harlequin, lots of peeling. I would also peel carrots, potatoes, cucumbers, apples, peaches, chocolate curls, and on and on.

I've been wanting a baking stone for years and will now check out Alton Brown's site per a comment I just read. Thank you for this opportunity!

I want to enter the contest, but don't want to post my edress here... now what to do...
